Charleston Postal Federal Credit Union has as its mission the responsibility for providing an efficient, effective, and well-managed financial institution that meets the needs of its membership.  In order to accomplish this mission, the Charleston Postal Federal Credit Union will continue a sound yet progressive asset management strategy and provide new and improved financial services to current and future members through membership input and management initiatives.

History and Structure

Charleston Postal Federal Credit Union is a voluntary, nonprofit, cooperative association of individuals sharing a common employment bond as defined by our field of membership.  Each member is an owner of the Credit Union and is entitled to a single vote regarding the business of the Credit Union.

What is the purpose of this credit union?

The purpose of this credit union is to promote thrift among its members; to make loans to its members at reasonable rates, with or without security; to conduct club savings groups and to invest any surplus not required for loans to its members in the way and manner provided by law. After all required reserve and capital levels are met, profits made by the credit union are returned to its members through dividends, low interest rates on loans, low or no fee services and the addition of new services as profits will allow. As a member of the credit union, you are also eligible to vote for and/or run for positions on the board of directors, and supervisory committee. You have the opportunity to make a difference and be active in your credit union. How was this credit union formed?

Chartered on November 9, 1925 by its incorporators: W R Jarrett, Lewis Nearman, RL Hamilton, Hubert Moles, RG Long, A G Clay, Charles Stratton and HS Brown, The Charleston Postal Employees Credit Union is the oldest credit union in the state of West Virginia.

Mission Statement

It shall be the mission and purpose of this credit union to provide low cost, affordable and competitive financial services to all kinds of postal employees, retirees and their families within the Appalachian District of the United States Postal Service.

We Shall endeavor to do this in a manner which is convenient for employees and their families to use and friendly and courteous at all times. We Shall also strive to make new services available consistent with the needs of our customers.
